If you look real close....

Kevin brought this to my attention. This picture is from the Sunday sports edition of the Deseret News. The sad part is that we lost this game. But if you look in the left middle of this picture, you can see Courtney waiting to come in!

Basketball and gymnastics

Yes, I am aware that these pictures aren't good, but they are all I have, so I will document some of what we have been doing lately, which includes basketball games, soccer games (no photos of these!), and gymnastic meets. The girls might not be doing much in these photos but the action shots were too blurry to post!

Happy Anniversary to us!

The weekend was pretty busy with lots of things so we didn't really get to celebrate. So, I took a personal day Monday and Kevin and I spent the day together. We did some sealings at the temple. (I was proud of myself because I actually did a family name. It has been a while since I have been able to do this, probably since I started teaching school! I have been searching for a marriage date for this couple for a few years now. I finally found it and I think that is due to the indexing that is being done in the church!) Anyway, after the temple we went to a movie, "Midway to Heaven", which was pretty cute. We got some things in preparation for Kevin's job interview in Los Angeles this week, and then we went to lunch at the Pizza Factory. It was a nice day and a great way to celebrate 23 years of marriage. It hasn't always been easy, but it is definitely worth the effort!

Ashley at 14!

What an amazing and adorable girl our Ashley is! It is hard to believe she is 14 and now a Mia Maid! It will be fun to have her in our fun little group. Here are some of the things we love about Ashley: self-motivated, quietly determined, athletic, has beautiful hair and can do cute things with her hair and others, sensitive, a problem solver, has an uncanny ability to find thins that are lost, a good leader, willing to work to get something she wants, and many other things!

I got to spotlight Ashley in Young Women since she is now a Mia Maid and I shared the above information and I also included this little story: Ashley was born while my mom and dad were serving a mission in Nauvoo, Illinois. I was sad that they wouldn't be here for the birth. A couple days before Ashley was born, I was talking to my mom on the phone and she said she had a dream and that the baby was a girl and she had red hair. We had not had an ultra-sound so we didn't know what we were having. Lo and behold, she was born and she was indeed a girl. She wasn't born with a lot of hair but it was red and is still red to this day. I think that was a very sweet tender mercy from Heavenly Father to bless us since my mom and dad were in His service and couldn't be with me.

Las Vegas Getaway

I know this is a little after the fact, but I did want to at least mention our Vegas road trip from a couple weeks back. We went over Martin Luther King weekend and had a great time. Ashley had a soccer tournament and I decided that if we were going to go, then we should at least take a full car. Those of us who went were: me, Casey, Ashley, Abby, my mom, Jenni, and Allie. We left Thurs. night and went as far as St. George. Jenni brought every snack imaginable for the ride! Friday morning, we played at the spinny park before heading to Las Vegas. After checking in at the hotel, we met up with Shelli, Jed, and Joe. (Joe also happened to be in Las Vegas so we got an added bonus!) Friday was spent playing and enjoying being with Shelli and Jed. Saturday was spent at the soccer games. We didn't do so well but we did have fun. Ashley did very well. Sunday we went to church with Shelli. We spent the day at her place, enjoying the loud music and singing of her neighbor across the way! Shelli made us a yummy taco soup dinner. I forgot how yummy taco soup is. That evening, we went back to St. George and stayed the night there. In the morning, we did some shopping before heading back home. It was wonderful to spend some time with such fun family members that we don't get to be with as often as we would like. Did I mention that the sunshine was splendid!
