Brian Regan!

We (Kevin and Greg King families) braved a spring snowstorm last weekend to see Brian Regan! Kevin and Greg missed out because they had a leadership session of our stake conference. Scott and Nicole went in their stead. We went to the Dodo Restaurant in Sugarhouse to eat. It was great! Then we headed to Abravanel Hall and treated ourselves to the incomparable Brian Regan. He is awesome! It is so fun to go see a comedian that the whole family can enjoy!

Here we are at the Dodo. I am doing my famous "both eyes closed" look.

We saw this view of the parking garage for a little over an hour!

Getting Lost in a Good Book

Since I've been teaching, I have missed out on one of my favorite interests-- sitting down and getting lost in a good book. I have made a goal to read at least 10 books during the summer. To accomplish this, I want to make a list, and pick 10 from it that appeal to me most. So, who can help get me started? Have you read any good books lately that I could add to my list? Keep in mind that I don't like bad language and immorality. (Yes, tragically, that narrows it down considerably!)

Here is a sampling of books that I have read and loved to give you an idea what I go for....
~The Magic of Ordinary Days
~The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society
~My favorite Jane Austen books are Pride and Prejudice and Persuasion
~Crocodile on the Sandbank (Though I did start a sequel- it was the one where she was indulgent to a bratty son who wasn't very old- couldn't stand that so I put it down)
~The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio
~To Kill A Mockingbird
~Elizabeth Gaskell books like North and South, Ruth, and Mary Barton
~Anne of Green Gables series
~All Creatures Great and Small series (James Herriot)
~biographies

Well, I don't know how much luck I'll have with this because I don't have much of a following, but here goes.... Let the recommendations begin!

An interesting way to start the weekend......

We got lots of snow this morning and no power! We really take having electricity for granted! The power came on just as I got to school. These first two pictures are looking out my classroom window. The others are looking out from our house. I especially like the picture of the trampoline. That snow is very heavy and wet! And, of course, it has stopped snowing and it is clearing up quickly. That's the good thing about spring snow.

Aaahhhh! It feels much better!

Well, I don't know what it was but it is gone! It feels so good to have that pressure off my face. Just in case anyone wondered....

No more brace face, pt. 2

Our family is now braces-free! Ashley got her braces off yesterday.

After:

Our family tradition is that you get a carmel apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory when you get your braces off! (Not that having braces has really stopped them from eating things on the "forbidden" list!)
