Kevin and Amy's Alaskan Adventure!

Here we are starting off on our adventure!

So, Kevin and I finally took the time to commemorate our 25th wedding anniversary!  It came a year and a half later, but it happened and that is the important thing!  Kevin does not like to travel much but I was able to talk him into going on a cruise to Alaska.

We left on Friday, May 31st, just hours after school got out!  We were off to Seattle.  Our flight was a little late but we got settled at our hotel room around 9:30 pm.  We wanted to go to a restaurant in Seattle that Bryan has told us about, but we were staying at a hotel closer to the airport and we were hungry and it was getting late.  The clerk at the hotel told us there was a Ram grill about 5 minutes from our restaurant so we decided to do that.  After dinner, we drove by the Seattle temple.  It looked beautiful at night.

The next morning, Saturday June 1st, we had time to do a little sightseeing before we left for the ship.  We went to the Seattle temple first, so that we could see it in the daylight.  It is a beautiful temple.  Our plan was to do some sealings but Amy forgot her recommend!  So disappointing!  That's life, I guess.  After the temple, Kevin really wanted to see Husky stadium and a bit of the University of Washington.

Then we drove to Gasworks Park, which is where Bryan proposed to Casey.  It is beautiful and we had a great view of the Seattle skyline.  We happened to be in Seattle on a sunny clear day.  We also got to see Alki Beach.  Then it was time to head to the ship for our adventure!

We were amazed at how huge this ship is!

The first complete day at sea was Sunday June 1st.  It was a fairly rough day at sea, but Kevin and I were just fine.  We just took it easy.  We did go watch a comedian in the evening after dinner.

Some fellow Mormons I met at the church service on Sunday.  They turned out to be acquaintances of Casey!  Hally and Rob Prina.  She teaches school and got out on Friday too!

This is the Baptist preacher that led the non-denominational service.

Watching the Love Boat on the ship!

We pulled into Juneau on Tues. June 2nd, which was our first port.  We took the Mt. Roberts tram and got to see some beautiful scenery, including soaring eagles!

We also got to see the Mendenhall glacier and then it was on to whale watching.

Then on Tues. June 3rd, we were in Skagway. We took the White Pass railroad to see the goldrush trail and we saw some beautiful countryside.  This day was slightly rainy.

Kevin wore his BYU cap and we found a lot of fellow BYU fans that way!

Wednesday June 4 we sailed through Glacier Bay.  A beautiful day and a beautiful place!!

Thursday, June 5 we were in Ketchikan.  We went fishing and had a great time.  Alas, we did not catch any salmon.  Kevin did catch a cod, but that was small compensation!  We did, however, get to see lots of eagles!  Ketchikan was beautiful and our favorite port.  We left Ketchikan by noon and were on our way to Victoria.  That night, Kevin and I decided to go ahead and dress up for the formal dining and we had fun with that.  Then, we watched a movie in the Princess Theater.  It was Jack Ryan- Shadow Recruit.

Friday June 6 we saw a little of Victoria, British Columbia and then we sailed back to Seattle.

Sat. June 7 We got off the ship.  We had a while before our flight left to see more of the sights of Seattle.  We got to go to Pike's Market.  It was fun to see the fish throwing, eat some fresh salmon and halibut, and see the beautiful flowers and fresh produce.

We made it to the Space Needle but didn't have enough time to make it to the top and still get to the airport in time.

Leaving the Golden Princess

Here are our sad faces as we leave the ship!

As we leave, they are supplying the ship for the next cruise!

Then we came home.  We had a great time!  It was fun to spend time together just the two of us.  Back to reality!

What a fun post! And if your experience is anything like mine, a post like that would take HOURS to do. Loved it! Loved that you did that. Good times!
